WILMINGTON, DELAWARE – Phin Security, a company dedicated to transforming security awareness training (SAT) and phishing simulations, especially for managed service providers (MSPs), has secured seed funding from leading institutions, including Squadra Ventures, Mantis, Inner Loop Capital, and Mercato Partners as well as renowned cybersecurity experts such as those behind Perch Security, Empath, and Rewst.
Phin was founded in 2021 with one goal in mind: be the reason human error is no longer the number one source of cybersecurity breaches. Fin.
Founders Connor Swalm (CEO) and Josh Simmons (CTO) asked experts the best way to make this happen and one consistent answer stuck out to them – Security Awareness Training.
“We’re at a point where in some cases it’s cheaper and easier to steal $5 than to legitimately work for $2. How can we change this equation? For starters, we can make it a hell of a lot harder to steal $5 by protecting individuals and businesses from the easiest and most common entry point for attackers – human error,” says Swalm. “That’s why we’re focused on helping businesses prepare for the inevitable attacks that will arrive on their doorstep.”
MSPs and the millions of small and medium businesses they support are being underserved by their current SAT providers. SAT is checking a compliance box, but it isn’t actually increasing security. Setting up and managing SAT is inefficient and time consuming, and training is boring, irrelevant, and ineffective. It’s cumbersome, especially in the MSP use case, which demands they manage many concurrently running training programs across numerous clients.
The investment will accelerate Phin’s integration with a broader range of tools that MSPs and their clients use daily to streamline workflows and simplify management. Phin will also be elevating the learner experience to increase value and engagement with training content. Enhancements to existing email environment integrations will unlock new insights and capabilities, while improved admin tools will simplify the creation and targeting of training campaigns for a more relevant end-user experience.
“We believe in Phin’s mission to meaningfully change people’s behavior to make them less likely to be victims of a cyberattack,” said Guy Filipppelli, Managing Partner of Squadra Ventures. “And we are confident that the Phin team has drive, commitment, and technical skills to make that happen, actually moving the needle on organizations’ cyber posture.”
Phin has launched a collaboration with The Chainsmokers and Pax8. The MSP who deploys the most users with Pax8 in Q2 of 2025 will win a free VIP experience with the Chainsmokers in Las Vegas. Find out more here.
